Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Please read your Banterra Bank Visa Debit Card Agreement that is provided to you when your card arrives in the mail.
Q What are my dollar limits per day with my debit card?
A You may withdraw up to $500.00 cash from an ATM per day by using your 4 digit PIN number. You may buy goods and services up to $2,500 per day. Restart accountholders may withdraw up to $300 cash from an ATM per day. Restart accountholders may buy goods and services up to $750 per day.
Note:All limits are subject to the Available Balance you have in your account at the time of purchase.
Q What does it mean to use my card as a credit instead of a debit?
A Many customers are confused when we indicate you can use your card as a credit in thinking that this means you have a credit card. This is not the case. If you use your card as a credit your purchase amount is still withdrawn from your checking account.
Q Why would I want to run my card as a credit vs debit?
A The card limit available by selecting credit is your available balance up to $2,500 per day.
Q When can I expect my card and PIN to arrive in the mail? May I choose my own PIN?
A Please allow seven to ten days for your card and PIN to arrive in the mail. A random PIN will be assigned and is mailed two days after the card. Cards and PINs are mailed separately and in plain envelopes for security purposes.
Q May I choose my own PIN?
A Yes. Visit your local branch for details.
Q How do I activate my card?
A When you receive your card, there will be a sticker on it with this phone number: 844-879-5119. Simply call the number and follow the prompts.
Q How soon after I use my card will the charge come out of my account?
A This depends on the merchant and their processor. Some transactions may be deducted from your account the same day while others could take up to three days or longer before the transaction is completed. Pending transactions indicate that your charge is in the process of being completed but has not been finalized yet. A “Hold” in the amount of your purchase will be placed on your account to ensure the funds will be available when your charge has been completed. This hold could be on your account for up to three business days. Larger holds may apply to car rental deposits and lodging reservations.
Q Is there a charge for using my debit card?
A Please refer to your Banterra Bank Visa Debit Card Agreement and your Checking Account Disclosure for more information and an explanation of foreign ATM fees.

A Debit cards expire every three years.
Q What if I do not use my debit card?
A Debit cards that are inactive for one year are not reissued.
Q How soon can I expect to get a new card before my current card expires?
